Coquitlam is a 1975 steel sailboat currently being restored in Western Australia.
She is slowly transforming into a floating base in order to:

support marine research, document wildlife, and bring people closer to the ocean.

Coqui is a tool to help the ocean in the best way we know how.

TO CONSERVE OUR SEAS

Coqui is a tool to:

  • Support conservation and research projects.
  • Document marine life responsibly.
  • Photo-identification and behavioural studies

  • Passive acoustic monitoring and sound recording

  •  Debris and ghost-net removals
  • Create awareness for local and international communities.
  • Generate stories that help people feel the ocean.
  •  Marine research collaborations

this feels like a dream

Encounters Expeditions is a collaborative project.

If you are a scientist, artist, filmmaker, conservationist, or someone who believes in protecting the ocean, you are welcome to connect.

You can support the expedition by:

• collaborating on research or creative projects
• contributing equipment or expertise
• supporting the project financially
• helping us expand the network

The ocean is vast...
Protecting it... takes a lot of people.
